Here we are at the School Hockey Festival on Monday the 24th of March. We were split into groups and given some coaching first and then we played games in mixed school teams. It was a cold day but bonny and we were glad it didn't rain. Here we are doing some warm ups before the games started...
Here are some action shots of the games.

P7 Football
What a bonny day it was yesterday, given the choice of what to play for 15 mins on the court, P7 decided to play a game of boys v girls football.
Release of the 'Troot'!
Today we went to the Quoykea Burn next to Sebay Mill to release the baby trout that we have been 'rearing' in a tank at school.
We had a good survival rate- only 1% of the trout eggs survive in the wild- we had enough for each child to release a bag full into the burn.
Thanks to Sandy Kerr and Antoine Petrie from the Trout Fishing Association who have helped us in this project and aided our understanding of the trout lifecycle. A big thanks too to Conrad who has been instrumental in the survival of the eggs.

Handwork
Here are two happy girls with the cushions they have just finished during handwork. Thanks to all the helpers who come in and help us produce such marvellous items!

Patterns and Sequences
We have been investigating square, cubed and triangular numbers.
Amy and Keith successfully demonstrated 4 cubed or 4x4x4.
Grid References
We found our houses on a map of the East Mainland and marked them with a pin. We also found out the four figure grid references of our houses.
Getting knotted up!
Owen taught us how to tie two knots on Wednesday. They were 'Round Turn and Two Half Hitches' and the 'Bowline' knots. He is going to teach us another two knots in the last week of term.
